Showstopper in the Jungle: When a feathered friend drops by, wouldn’t you want a showstopper to steal the spotlight? Picture this: a dazzling dude draped in sultry sulphur blue, with a rufous throat and chest that could make anyone swoon. Meet the elusive Tickell’s blue flycatcher, a shy little guy who prefers the cozy corners of dense scrub and forests!
Tickell’s Blue Flycatcher
In the name of Samuel Tickell: Named after the legendary British bird nerd Samuel Tickell, who was an Ornithologist explored for avian treasures in India and Burma, this fella won’t exactly tickle your funny bone, but he’ll definitely charm your socks off! If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of him flitting around India during winter migration, leaving the chilly Himalayas for sunnier southern shores.
Metallic Duo:Both the guys and gals serenade you with a delightful, high-pitched tinkling tune, blending dry rattles and cheerful metallic clinks into a symphony of joy!
How to reach: I’ve had my own thrilling encounters in the bustling Chennai city and the serene Bondla wildlife sanctuary in Maharashtra.
And if you’re itching to go birdwatching, fear not! There are fabulous tour companies out there offering wallet-friendly stays across India, ready to help you embark on your own avian adventure!
